Step 1 (A)
In this step you are going to learn what extensive reading is.
Do you like reading? I hope so! Reading is a good way to learn lots of new things, to entertain yourself, and so on. Extensive reading is a way to improve your language skills by reading a lot of really easy things in another language.
First, read these sentences about extensive reading (ER).
The reading should be at an easy level for you. You should know most or all of the words on every page.
You should choose what books you want to read, and read books that are fun and interesting.
You should read a lot of books (between 5500 and 8500 words a week for this class). Try to read every day.
You should try to read quickly. A 3000-word book should take you less than 30 minutes.
You should understand the books generally, enough to pass the quiz and tell your classmates about it. Don't try to read and translate every bit - read and understand in English!
You should let your teacher guide you. Listen when they suggest you change levels, topics, etc.
